Licking County Municipal Court attorney

The Licking County Municipal Court hears the majority of misdemeanor criminal charges in Licking County.

Smaller jurisdictions, including municipalities with a Mayor's Court, may chose not to send misdemeanor cases to the Municipal Court and instead keep the cases to be handled by their own court. You have the right to request a transfer of your case to the Municipal Court.

A case heard in the Licking County Municipal Court begins with a first court date which is noted on your ticket or citation. At this first court date a Defendant enters a "guilty", "not guilty", or "no contest" plea, or requests a continuance if they wish to get more time to retain an attorney.

Cases are overseen by Judges Michael Higgins and David Stansbury.
